Description
Eureka is a Walker Hound whose owners brought her into a central Florida kill shelter last year as a stray. When shelter staff told them she would be killed if not adopted, they took her home. In early March, they returned to the shelter to leave Eureka and her two hound - lab mix puppies. A shelter worker, charmed by Eurekas sweet disposition, contacted Rescue to ask us to find a forever home for her. Eureka is a petite Walker Hound, just less than 40 lb, and probably 2-3 years of age. She is in good health, and apparently someone had taken good care of her for most of her life. She is now vetted, spayed, on heart worm preventative and microchipped. She has as good a disposition as any dog. She is a bit shy at first with unfamiliar people, but once she has a chance to warm up to her human, her affection runs at a full boil. She is housebroken, is good with other dogs due to her submissive nature, and has barked very little since coming to her foster home. Eureka, because of her small size, would be a good adoption candidate for a home with a smaller yard, or someone who wanted a hound but could not give the exercise demanded by a younger, larger-sized one. Archimedes shouted, Eureka (I found it) when he discovered how to use density to determine purity of gold.
